Spielwiese will become more barrier-free

Whoever has been in Spielwiese before will remark how diverse the clientele is and how much tolerance for others they have. All nationalities and religions are represented here, there are gays, lesbians, transgender meetups, and (almost) all political views are also represented. However, in terms of Nazis, I will not allow any of that here.

Spielwiese is accessible for handicapped, and there is also a hearing-impaired meetup. It is truly wonderful to observe how well they integrate into the games and are not restricted.

Even the Werewolves of Mirkwood are be played in this group with enthusiasm. A game in which for me, personally ,has audible clues as some of the more important points for the players. But it is also very good without, as this group has proven to me.

By a lively mail exchange with members of this group, I learned how hard it is for many deaf people to read and write, as their “mother tongue” is sign language.

When I proposed to make this blog one of the first barrier-free for the hearing-impaired blogs, that promise was quickly seen through. All texts of the blog are to be translated into sign language over the summer. These videos will then used as a third language in addition to German and English. Only the news will continue to be just in German.

I thank the club jubel3 (Berlin youth laughs, lives and learns sign language) for the work they put into the implementation of this task and the many beautiful games that here I can watch from behind the counter.
